Our First Christmas!

This weekend was Talent's first Christmas. It was pretty jam packed with places to go and people to see. We started with our usual tradition of going to my parents on Christmas Eve afternoon. My whole family was there. We had a great time and Talent was beyond blessed. He got a lot of nice things. My grandparents gave him a recordable book which made me tear up. They read it & recorded their voices for him and he will always have it. It's the story of Christmas so it will become a big part of our Christmas tradition.

After our time at Mom and Dad's we went to Seth's Aunt Billie's. By this time T was very sleepy and pretty clingy. He stuck to me and Seth for the most part and woke up long enough to open presents.

On Christmas day we opened presents at home before we went to church. Talent seemed very excited by his big gift. After church we went to Seth's parents and opened gifts with them. We had a good time and were blessed with more than we could have ever expected.

Our Christmas was pretty amazing. I don't think we could have had a better first for Talent.

Christmas Time is HERE!!!!

So this weekend is going to be a big one for Talent. It's his first Christmas! And while I know he isn't quite old enough to understand what all the fuss is about, I can't wait to teach him about the meaning of Christmas. I've already been telling him all about the manger and baby Jesus. I know he doesn't know what in the heck I'm talking about but, I feel like you can never start too early.

Saturday we will be going to my Mom & Dad's for our usual Christmas Eve present opening and dinner. Then Saturday night we will be going to Seth's Aunt Billie's house for all the festivities there. I have a feeling my boy will be exhausted and cranky by then. And then Sunday we will be going to church with my father in law and then doing Christmas with Seth's parents afterwards. We are going to get up early Sunday and do our first Christmas as a family of 3 before we go to church. I'm excited! I can't wait to start the traditions with my little guy!

I love Christmas time and look forward to it every year. It's one of the few times that we have almost all of my family together in one spot. I love having my family together. It makes me happy. So Merry Christmas to everyone! I hope you are as blessed this year as I have been.

On the move....

Well it looks like Talent may crawl after all! He's been trying so hard this week to get up on his knees and get moving. Yesterday he took two "steps" and then belly flopped. But it's progress. He still prefers to stand and try to walk but I will take any kind of progress I can get! This week he also started feeding himself little snack foods. I call them crunchies. They are these little Gerber snacks that they make for babies and some look like cheetos and some look like little stars. He loves them. He is so proud of himself for being able to get them in his own mouth! Now he still makes a big mess and Redick & Riley probably end up eating more crunchies than Talent does but at least he is learning! I'm proud of him. It seems like he just started doing so many things all at once. He's just growing so fast. 8 months has gone by so fast.

Teething sucks....

Well today I'm writing from an exhausted state of mind. Talent is still teething. He has at least two coming in that I can see...one on top, one on bottom. The little turkey sticks his tongue out when you try and stick your finger in there to feel or when you try and pull his lip down to look. So you don't get much of a chance to see anything. I only know about those two because I can see them when he laughs. And I tickle him a lot so he laughs a lot.

Last night we were up all night because the one on the bottom is just about to bust through. I wish it would already. He was cranky all day yesterday and then all night. Hopefully once these teeth all come in he will be happier. He is usually just the sweetest little thing ever....

We've started trying some finger foods. He makes the funniest faces. He is curious but the textures really throw him off. I don't know what I'm going to do with this ornery kid. He loves fruit and veggies and is learning to like the meat purees that they have in baby food. So far I think turkey is his favorite.

Talent is a funny kid. Even though he kept me up all night I still love him to pieces. We are going to have a lazy day today though.....with a long nap in there somewhere. I deserve it! I also deserve to not leave the house and to stay in "soft pants" all day.....so that's our plan for the day. I've cleaned house all week and don't have much left to get done so I figure it can wait a day....it's not going anywhere, right?
