You're Gonna Miss This

Today we had a busy day. We had pictures done for Talent's one year birthday. We had to get dressed and ready, get him dressed, fed, napped, and ready. He is teething and not the happiest of babies at the moment. He's been very clingy and always wants me and wants to be held. People make comments about him being "such a momma's boy" all the time. I hear other moms comment all the time about how glad they were or how happy they will be when their child doesn't "need" them so much anymore. All the while I'm thinking they are crazy. I love that he needs me. Do I get tired, heck yes! But I know that these moments of time are small. He is already almost a year old and it still seems like just yesterday I brought this teeny tiny little boy home. I know the days of me getting to rock him to sleep at night are numbered. Why not enjoy those snuggles while I can?

I am blogging about this because I listen to the radio all the time when we are cooking or eating lunch or dinner. Tonight the Trace Adkins song, "You're Gonna Miss This" came on and it always bring tears to my eyes. I know I'm going to be the parent like Talent man at the end of the song. The one whose babies are "26 & 33". I will always see Talent as the little baby I brought home almost a year ago. The little boy that enjoyed twirling and kicking in my belly and ALWAYS had the hiccups! To me that is what he will always be. Even now as he stands on his own and points to what he wants and says "Momma".....he's that tiny baby in my eyes.

So I guess what I'm saying is, don't take life so fast. Enjoy your babies. They don't stay little for very long.

Spring has arrived!

It has been just beautiful this weekend! Talent and I have spent the weekend hanging out with Seth and playing. We've played outside, inside, and done all kinds of fun things. He has been standing on his own a lot this weekend. He is just getting SO big! I can't believe it! He's learning to undress himself, climb, and hide. It is SO much fun being a mom and watching all of the crazy things he does! He started saying "uh oh" last week and is now brushing his own teeth. He's a very smart and funny boy. I'm very blessed to call him mine!

We are having his first birthday party this next weekend. I can't wait! I know he won't have a clue what is going on but, I know it will be a fun memory to make with both of our families and a few close friends! I'm super excited! We are having a Sesame Street party for him. He's getting a cake made by his Jenny (one of my very best friends...she made my baby shower cake!) and I can't wait to see him smash his little hands into it! I'm just ready for it to be here! We are having family pictures and his one year photos done on Friday. I'm anxious for that too. We will be returning to Keelie Lipscomb to do his one year photos. She did some of his newborn shots and she did an amazing job. I know these will be wonderful too.

Anyway, I thought I would post a few new pictures of my sweet boy on here for you guys! Hope you enjoy! I am sure I will have an update after his party!

It all goes by so fast!

Today has been such an eventful day in our house! I always put Talent in his exersaucer to watch tv for a bit while I get ready or do a few things I need to do. This morning I got ready real quick and cleaned the kitchen. When I went to his room to get him out to play he was half dressed! His shirt was half on half off and he was trying to figure out how to pull the other sleeve off and get it over his head! It was hilarious! The look on his face was great! He was so proud of himself! I loved it!

Then later we had lunch from Sonic and I got him a juice box and a burger and fries. I didn't really figure he could drink from the juice box because he's never drank from a straw before. Well I put the straw in his mouth and squeezed the box and he took it from there! He figured out how to drink from a straw! I was excited!

Then this afternoon he discovered he could crawl underneath his exersaucer and "hide" from me. It was hilarious! He's just been doing so many new things lately and today he was just going from one new thing to another! OH! He also said "uh oh" a few times today when he dropped his toys!

I can't believe how big he's getting! He changes so much everyday. And he learns so much everyday. I love getting to see all of it! So here's a pic of him crawling under the exersaucer! And one of him with his shirt half off!

I AM SAM!!!

I read to Talent every single day. When I first started reading to him, he was probably about 3 or 4 months old. It was when we first started putting him in his crib to sleep at night. I was trying to find my own rhythm as a mom and singing was a big fail. I found myself singing hymns from church....which is pretty fitting since my own Momma sang "Away in a Manger" to us when we were little. I however have one hymn that is my favorite....# 305...I'll Fly Away. If you know this tune, you know it is not a slow song, it's upbeat and happy. Probably why I love it so much. That song never seemed to really soothe Talent to sleep so I finally gave up on the singing. I turned to the only book I had at the time...."Goodnight Moon".

Now if you have ever read "Goodnight Moon" you know how catchy it is. Well, imagine if you will, that being the only book you have to read to your child for about 6 months. Yes, folks, I have "Goodnight Moon" memorized. I no longer even use the book to tell the story. I let him carry it around in his room and look at the pictures when he's playing. At Christmas I begged for the Dr. Suess book set. Talent's Aunt Boo bought it for him. "Goodnight Moon" was no longer our only book to read! I have never been more excited about childrens books before!

So I read Talent a different book out of the new set each day and he seemed less than impressed until, "Green Eggs and Ham". When I opened the book and started reading, he got excited. He laughed and pointed at the pictures and looked at me and smiled so big! He LOVES "Green Eggs and Ham" and we read it sometimes just for fun during the day to get him to smile and laugh! This last week he decided he wanted to "read" the book for himself. So I let him look through it by himself. I thought I would post the pictures of Talent "reading" his favorite book.

Bathing a dragon and a busted lip....

So today has been an eventful one. We've been trapped indoors because it has been raining cats and dogs all day.

Seth left to go pay some bills and to deposit a check into the bank. As he was walking out the door Talent was standing in his walker in the kitchen watching him leave. I saw him wave "bye bye" at the door an then disappear around the corner. He for quiet for a second so I went to investigate. Apparently he thought "Dragon" (the toy he sleeps with every time he is in bed) needed a bath. He was dunking him in the dogs water bowl. He was absolutely delighted with himself. Trying to get Dragon away from him was a fight. So I waited until he dropped him and forgot he had dropped him and we found another toy to play with while Dragon took a bath in the washing machine. Luckily Dragon was fresh out of the dryer in time for our nap time!

Also this afternoon we got our first busted lip. Talent was playing in his room with Seth and me. We were talking and he was walking with his toy and he fell and hit his ride on fire truck and busted his lip. He screamed and cried and his daddy clapped and said "Yay!" because he thinks if he makes him shake it off he will be tougher. He didn't cry for long but he did bleed a little. Broke my heart. His lip looks fine this evening. It doesn't even look swollen. I honestly think it was harder for me than it was for him!

Boys. They are rough and tumble. I knew this going in but it still makes me nervous when I hear him scream. I know he will be a tough little guy. And I know the Dragon bath is just the first of many ornery things he will do. So here are a few pics of our day. Including one of a very clean Dragon!

March Madness

Well today we are having a pajama day at our house. We will be eating pizza, snacks, and just junk. It's a tradition that has been going for years with my husband and I've been able to take part in since we got together 9 years ago. Today is the beginning of Talent's FIRST March Madness. I know he won't know what it is. I know he won't watch all the games. But it's an exciting "right of passage" kind of thing in our house. So he has his basketball pacifier in and sports clothing on, and he's currently taking a quick nap before tip off! One day he will think this is a big deal....just like his Daddy. He will want to stay in jammies and eat junk all day just like we are doing today. It's the beginning of a tradition in our house and I LOVE it!

Cousins....

Well, tonight I took Talent to stay with his GeeGee and Poppy while I went to a wedding. My brother left Flynn with her too. So she had a house full. I got there before the wedding and Flynn was upset so I took a few minutes to get him calmed down before I took off for the wedding. It was nice to get to spend a few minutes with him getting to love on him.

Mom said while she had them, Flynn was laying on a blanket on the floor with his paci in his mouth perfectly content, and my sweet child looked over at him and took off crawling towards him and once he got there he took his paci away. Flynn screamed...... I swear, my kid. Apparently he also got jealous every single time Mom held Flynn and he tried to climb up in her lap when she had him. Talent might just be a little spoiled.....

Anyway, it was nice to know that Talent was able to spend a little bit of time with Flynn tonight getting used to his cousin. I hope that when they grow up they are close friends. I know my cousin, Clint, was one of my very best friends when I was growing up and I just hope for that kind of closeness with Talent and Flynn.

Here are a few pictures of me & Flynn and maybe even a few of my sweet boy.....it's not like I have one or two of those or anything!

OMG!

Since I found out I was pregnant many moons ago, I have been subscribed to TONS of "mommy" emails. I get things from BabyCenter.com and all kinds of other baby sites. They send out coupons and "mommy tips" and I love getting them. Today I got the one I get weekly and it was telling me about all the things my baby should be doing. Well, I was struck by this one a little differently than I normally am. I know my baby is growing and changing and getting SO big. I realize that. I am with him every single moment of every single day. But what I guess I have been pushing to the back of my mind is that we are only ONE MONTH away from his one year birthday. He will turn 11 months next week. I just CANNOT believe we are already a month away from him turning ONE!! It really seems like yesterday we brought him home. It seems like yesterday I was going into labor. I can remember vividly how it felt when he was still inside my body. I just can't believe how fast this first year has flown. It seriously blows my mind. So since I was thinking about this today and wishing time would stop and slow down, I thought I would do a "10 months in pictures" post so I could look back at some of his old baby pics and remember the last year and all the happiness it has brought into our home. So I hope you enjoy the pictures. I know some of them will be repeats....enjoy them anyway!

Oh my gosh, I LOVE this kid! Looking back at the pictures we've taken over the last 11 months, I am amazed that I can love someone as much as I love him. He makes me smile and makes my life so much more than I ever imagined it could be. I loved being a wife, I did, and I still do. But being a mom, it is such an amazing thing. It's exhausting at times but it is just the most amazing feeling in the world. I love it. I don't understand those moms that don't want to soak up every second of their kids. The ones that "don't carpe diem".....I mean, even when Talent is fussy and at his worst, I love him still. I love him and love being with him even when I'm most aggravated. I just love being a mom. I know there are times when he's on my nerves and driving me crazy, but I still want to soak him in, I want to take every second I have with him and cherish it because he isn't going to be little long. Looking back at these pictures just reminds me once more how fast time flies.....

Growing too fast!

Well Talent is growing like a weed. He turned 10 months old this last month. I can remember this time last year I had a huge baby belly and he was kick boxing my bladder. Now he's crawling all over our house and pulling up on everything. He is learning new things all the time. He's been standing all by himself and cruising around holding on to whatever he can grab. It is all going by so fast.

Talent has been such a blessing to my life. I love this kid so much. He's learned "momma" and it's an amazing sound. He is also pointing at things he wants. He points at his daddy anytime he comes in the room. I think that's his way of saying "hey dude. What's up?" because he doesn't always go to him when he points. It's cute though and ha become a game between the two of them.

Anyway. Here are a few of his latest pictures. I personally think he's adorable. They don't make babies any cuter than him. Enjoy the photos!
